The Weekly Business Review Skill
Turn your weekly numbers into decisions in five minutes.
Most founders look at their numbers every week and then change nothing. The dashboard tells you what happened, but nobody writes down why it happened or what to do about it. A weekly business review fixes that, and it is the habit most solo founders skip because it takes an hour they don't have. The Weekly Business Review Skill does the hour of work for you. Give Claude this week's metrics as a table, a CSV, a screenshot or a connected Google Sheet. It compares each number against last week and your four-week average, flags anything that moved more than 15%, suggests the most likely cause, and checks how the moves connect (traffic up but signups flat points to a conversion problem, not a traffic one). Then it ends with three priorities for next week, each tied to a number you can check the following Monday. It is the same review I run every Monday to operate No Code Founders as a solo founder. You install it once, and every review after that takes about five minutes.

What it does for you
Week-over-week comparison
Every metric is compared against last week and your four-week average, so one odd week doesn't fool you.
Explains what moved
For each big change, Claude suggests the likely cause from what you've told it, and says plainly when it is guessing.
Ends in decisions
Three priorities for next week: one fix, one experiment and one thing to double down on, each tied to a metric.
Works with any data
Paste a table, upload a CSV or screenshot, or point it at a connected sheet, Stripe or your newsletter platform.
Honest, not cheerful
No cheerleading. If the week was bad, the review says so and tells you what to do about it.
Runs on a schedule
Set it up as a Monday scheduled task in Claude and the review is waiting for you when you start the week.
What is included
The full skill, the setup steps and the questions founders ask before installing it.
The SKILL.md file
The complete skill, ready to paste into a folder and upload to Claude. It tells Claude exactly how to run a weekly business review and what the output should look like.
- Builds a table of this week, last week, the four-week average and % change
- Flags any metric that moved more than 15% in either direction
- Suggests a likely cause for each flagged move
- Spots connected moves across metrics
- Writes three priorities tied to numbers
The one-page review format
Every review comes back in the same order, so you can compare one week with the next at a glance.
- The headline: one sentence on how the week went
- The numbers: the comparison table with flagged rows marked
- What moved and why: a short paragraph per flagged metric
- Next week: the three priorities
Install in four steps
From an empty folder to your first review in a few minutes, with no code.
- Create a folder called weekly-business-review
- Add a SKILL.md file and paste in the skill
- Zip the folder and upload it in Claude's skills settings
- Say "run my weekly review" and share your numbers
Make it yours
The skill works with whatever metrics you give it, so you can shape it around your business.
- Add metrics only your business has, like booked calls, trial starts or refunds
- Tell Claude about launches, campaigns or outages so it can explain moves
- Run it as a Monday scheduled task pointed at your sheet
What is a weekly business review?
A weekly business review is a short, regular look at your key metrics that ends in decisions. It compares this week with recent weeks, explains the biggest changes and sets priorities for the week ahead. Large companies run them with whole teams. This skill gives a solo founder the same discipline in five minutes.
What metrics should a founder track weekly?
Start with the few numbers that drive your business: revenue, new customers, churned customers, website visitors, signups and your conversion rate. Newsletter businesses usually add subscribers and open rate. Add anything else you would act on, and leave out anything you wouldn't.
Do I need to connect any tools?
No. Pasting a table, a CSV or a screenshot works fine. If you already have Google Sheets, Stripe or your newsletter platform connected to Claude, you can tell the skill to pull your numbers from there instead.
Does it make up numbers?
No. The skill tells Claude never to invent a number and to say "no clear cause, worth checking" when it has no evidence for why a metric moved. It asks you for missing weeks rather than guessing them.
