Build full-stack web apps with AI
Updated October 2026
Lovable is an AI app and website builder. You describe what you want in a chat, and it builds a full-stack web app: the interface, the database, sign-up and login, and hosting. Lovable says it handles hosting, SSL, backend infrastructure, authentication, payments and integrations, and that your code and data stay yours.
It is one of the most-used tools in the category. Lovable says 60 million projects have been built on it, with 1.2 million new ones started every week. Those are the company's own figures.
Lovable charges in credits, and each message costs a different amount depending on what you ask for. Its pricing page gives examples: changing a button color costs 0.50 credits, removing a footer 0.90, adding sign-up and login 1.20, and building a landing page with images 1.70. You can see the cost of any past message in your message history.
On top of your plan's monthly credits, the Free, Pro and Business plans get 5 daily build credits (capped at 30 a month on Free), a daily chat allowance, and three small monthly grants: 20 Cloud credits for your app's hosting and backend, 4 AI credits for AI features inside your app, and 1 connector credit for connectors managed by Lovable. Once a grant is used, that usage comes out of your general credits. If you run out entirely, backend services pause.
On paid monthly plans, unused plan credits roll over and expire two months after they were issued. Daily build credits and the monthly grants do not roll over. Pro users can buy top-ups at $15 for 50 credits and set up auto top-up.
Free includes unlimited workspace members, workspace-private projects, Git sync with GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket, custom connectors, and publishing to invited people only.
Pro adds editing and downloading your code, custom domains, removing the Edit with Lovable badge, design systems, user roles and permissions, per-member credit limits, usage alerts, credit rollovers and top-ups, and email support.
Business adds SSO, design templates, personal projects inside a workspace, internal publishing, the Lovable API, password-protected and expiring preview links, role-based access, a security center, commit attribution, and workspace data excluded from AI training by default. Enterprise is priced by contract and adds SCIM, audit logs, publishing controls, EU inference and dedicated support.
A common use is a first version of a product idea: a SaaS MVP with accounts and a database that you can put in front of real users within days. Agency owners use it to build client portals and small internal tools without a developer, and operators use it to replace spreadsheets with a proper app.
It works best when you plan before you prompt. Write down who the app is for, the screens it needs and the data it stores, then build in small steps. That keeps the credit bill down and gives the AI less room to wander.
Bolt is the closest alternative. It measures usage in tokens rather than credits, has a larger free plan that includes public hosting, and connects to Expo for iOS and Android apps. Bolt can also import a Lovable project, so moving later is possible. Our full Lovable vs Bolt comparison covers the differences in detail.
base44 is another plain-English app builder that handles the backend, database and frontend for you. Replit suits founders who want to see and edit the code in a full browser development environment, with hosting and AI help built in.
For most non-technical founders building a web app, Lovable is the easiest place to start.

Yes, there is a free plan. It gives you 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month, plus a daily chat allowance, private projects and Git sync. Publishing on Free is limited to people you invite, so a public launch, custom domain or code download needs Pro.
Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits and scales up to 10,000 credits a month. Business starts at $50 a month for 100 credits. Annual billing gives you two months free. Enterprise pricing is set by contract.
Lovable says your code and data stay yours. Every plan can sync code to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, and Pro adds editing and downloading the code directly.
You can buy top-ups on Pro ($15 for 50 credits) or turn on auto top-up. If credits run out completely, Lovable pauses your app's Cloud backend services until you add more.
It depends on the build. Lovable is the smoother choice for non-technical founders building web apps. Bolt has a bigger free plan with public hosting and supports iOS and Android apps through Expo.
Yes. Verified students and teachers get 50% off Pro with 100 credits a month, billed monthly, for up to 12 months.
Final verdict
Lovable is the AI app builder we point most non-technical founders to first. You describe what you want in plain English and it builds a working web app, with hosting, a backend and sign-in handled for you. For a first version of a SaaS idea, an internal tool or a client-facing app, it gets you from idea to something you can share faster than any builder that makes you learn a visual editor, and Git sync on every plan means the code stays yours.
The catch is the credit model. Every message costs credits, including the ones where you ask it to fix something it just broke, and your app's backend usage on Lovable Cloud draws from the same pool once its monthly grant is used. Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits plus 5 daily build credits, which covers plenty of small edits but can go quickly on a messy build. Plan the app before you prompt, change one thing at a time, and turn on auto top-up once real users depend on it.
Lovable suits founders, agency owners and operators who want a real web app without hiring a developer. It is a weaker fit if you need predictable monthly costs on a busy app, want a generous free plan for public launches, or would rather work directly in code from day one.
